MAÍÍZA CO. RESPONSIBLE CONSUMPTION

Last updated: July 20, 2026

MAÍÍZA Co. supports the lawful, informed, and responsible consumption of alcoholic beverages.

Alcohol is not risk-free. Choosing not to drink is always a valid choice, and people who do drink should understand that reducing consumption reduces the risk of alcohol-related harm.

1. LEGAL DRINKING AGE

MAÍÍZA products are intended only for people who have reached the legal drinking age in the province or territory where they are located.

Visitors must not use this website to seek, purchase, receive, or distribute alcohol unlawfully.

Alcohol must never be purchased for, supplied to, or shared with a person who is under the applicable legal drinking age.

2. AGE GATE

The MAÍÍZA website may require visitors to confirm that they are of legal drinking age before entering.

The age gate relies on the visitor’s declaration and does not independently verify identity or date of birth.

Providing false information to bypass the age gate is prohibited.

3. DRINK RESPONSIBLY

People who choose to consume alcohol should do so carefully and in moderation.

Responsible consumption includes:

  • knowing your limits

  • drinking slowly

  • alternating alcoholic drinks with water

  • eating before or while drinking

  • avoiding pressure to drink

  • stopping if you feel unwell or impaired

  • planning safe transportation in advance

Alcohol can impair judgement, attention, coordination, vision, memory, and reaction time.

4. DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE

Never drive or operate a vehicle, bicycle, boat, machinery, or other equipment while impaired by alcohol.

Arrange safe transportation before drinking.

Possible options include:

  • a designated driver

  • public transportation

  • a taxi

  • a rideshare service

  • staying overnight

  • calling a trusted person for assistance

Do not rely on how alert or capable you feel. Alcohol may impair judgement before a person fully recognizes their level of impairment.

5. ALCOHOL AND HEALTH

Alcohol consumption may create both short-term and long-term health risks.

Short-term risks may include:

  • impaired judgement

  • slowed reaction time

  • nausea and vomiting

  • memory loss

  • accidental injury

  • alcohol poisoning

Long-term alcohol use may increase the risk of health problems affecting the liver, brain, heart, blood pressure, mental health, and certain cancers.

Reducing the amount and frequency of alcohol consumption may reduce the risk of harm.

6. PEOPLE WHO SHOULD AVOID ALCOHOL

Some people should not consume alcohol, including people who:

  • are below the applicable legal drinking age

  • are pregnant, trying to become pregnant, or may be pregnant

  • plan to drive or operate machinery

  • have been advised not to drink by a healthcare professional

  • take medication that may interact with alcohol

  • have a medical condition affected by alcohol

  • have difficulty controlling their alcohol use

  • are recovering from alcohol dependence

Anyone uncertain about whether alcohol is safe for them should consult a qualified healthcare professional.

7. MEDICATIONS AND MEDICAL CONDITIONS

Alcohol may interact with prescription medication, over-the-counter medication, recreational substances, and certain medical conditions.

Read medication instructions and seek advice from a pharmacist or healthcare professional where appropriate.

MAÍÍZA Co. does not provide medical advice.

8. PREGNANCY

Alcohol should be avoided during pregnancy.

Anyone who is pregnant, trying to become pregnant, or believes they may be pregnant should seek guidance from a qualified healthcare professional regarding alcohol use.

9. ALCOHOL POISONING AND EMERGENCIES

Drinking a large amount of alcohol over a short period can cause alcohol poisoning.

Possible warning signs include:

  • inability to remain conscious

  • confusion

  • repeated vomiting

  • seizures

  • slow or irregular breathing

  • pale, cold, or bluish skin

  • inability to wake the person

Severe alcohol intoxication can lead to coma, respiratory arrest, or death.

If alcohol poisoning is suspected, contact emergency services immediately.

Do not leave an unconscious or severely impaired person alone.

10. RESPECTING PERSONAL CHOICE

No person should be pressured, mocked, or excluded for choosing not to drink alcohol.

MAÍÍZA supports social experiences where people can participate regardless of whether they consume alcohol.

Responsible hospitality includes respecting individual limits and offering non-alcoholic options where possible.

11. SERVING OTHERS

Anyone serving MAÍÍZA products should do so responsibly.

Do not serve alcohol to a person who:

  • is under the applicable legal drinking age

  • appears intoxicated

  • cannot safely make informed decisions

  • intends to drive or operate machinery while impaired

  • is being pressured to drink

Hosts, bars, restaurants, retailers, and licensed establishments remain responsible for complying with applicable alcohol-service laws and licence conditions.

12. PRODUCT INQUIRIES AND SALES

Submitting a product inquiry through the MAÍÍZA website does not guarantee that alcohol can legally be sold, supplied, delivered, or distributed to the requester.

MAÍÍZA Co. may decline any inquiry or proposed transaction where:

  • legal eligibility cannot be confirmed

  • required licences are missing

  • the transaction would violate alcohol laws

  • the recipient appears underage or intoxicated

  • the proposed delivery or distribution method is not permitted

  • responsible-service concerns arise

13. MARKETING PRINCIPLES

MAÍÍZA Co. does not intend its marketing to:

  • target minors

  • portray excessive drinking positively

  • suggest alcohol is necessary for social acceptance

  • suggest alcohol improves physical performance

  • encourage unsafe consumption

  • encourage drinking and driving

  • present intoxication as desirable

Our brand communication is intended for adults of legal drinking age.

14. SOCIAL MEDIA

Content shared by visitors, customers, venues, or partners does not necessarily represent the views of MAÍÍZA Co.

We may remove, reject, or report content associated with MAÍÍZA that:

  • misrepresents the brand

  • violates platform rules or applicable law

15. EVENTS AND PARTNERSHIPS

Events, tastings, collaborations, and promotional activities involving MAÍÍZA products must comply with applicable alcohol laws, licence conditions, and responsible-service requirements.

Event organizers, venues, licensees, and service staff are responsible for maintaining any permits, licences, training, supervision, and safety procedures required for their activities.

16. SUPPORT FOR ALCOHOL-RELATED CONCERNS

Anyone concerned about their alcohol use should consider speaking with:

  • a physician

  • a qualified healthcare professional

  • a counsellor

  • a local addiction-support service

  • a trusted family member or friend
